| The Infusion Minority Fellowship Fund was built on the idea that improving
access to educational resources and providing a more efficient deployment
of these resources in community settings will measurably reduce the economic
disparities that exist between minority and Caucasian communities. Nationwide on a per capita basis, African Americans earn 58% of Caucasians, while Hispanic and Native Americans earn 52% and 49% respectively of their Caucasian counterparts. This racial disparity can also be seen in public business schools, where minority enrollment has steadily declined. Infusion's effort to change this trend has begun with the establishment of the Minority Fellowship Fund. The Minority Fellowship Fund The Infusion Minority Fellowship Fund was designed to increase the number of underrepresented minority students at public business schools across the country, beginning with U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business. The Haas School of Business was chosen due in part to the school's dramatic decline in enrollment of minority students and its particular place as the leading public business institution in the nation. The Minority Fellowship Program is open to underrepresented minority students accepted into U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business Full-Time MBA Program. Infusion Fellows will receive an annual stipend of $10,000 (amount is for the 2004-2005 school year) to be used for tuition and fees at the Haas School of Business only. The fellowship award may be renewable for a second year, contingent upon a fellow's satisfactory academic progress and participation in Infusion required activities. As part of the fellowship program, Infusion Fellows are required to mentor undergraduate students through the Infusion/Ideal mentorship program and consult with a local minority business owner. Eligibility Candidates for the Infusion Fellowship will be selected primarily based on their application to the Haas School of Business. U.S. citizens accepted into the Haas School of Business who have self-identified as African American, Hispanic American or Native American are considered for the fellowship. Based on an individual's application, select candidates are identified as finalists and invited to interview. Preference will be given to individuals who have, through their application, shown commitment/interest in minority communities, entrepreneurship, and/or urban youth.
